Stephen came to Edenville where he was a saloon owner. Owned and sold the land on the north side of Edenville known now as the Gransden subdivision. He lived for some time in Detroit where he was owner of a hardware and store that sold parts for boats on the Detroit River. When he lived in Edenville his house was across the road from the Methodist Church on Curtis road. The log house was torn down where his son, Cleve, built his new home. After Steve retired he purchased the Tom Moore house in Edenville and lived out his life there. Stephen was nicknamed Thunderation Steve because he used the word THUNDER when he spoke.
