(4) Obituary....ELIZABETH JOHNSON....There passed away at the Molong District
Hospital, at the age of 72, after a lingering illness, a well known Molong
identity, Elizabeth Johnson. She was a native of Rockley, and has many
relatives in our town and district, and though she did not take any great part
in public affairs will be mourned by many true friends. Her remains were laid
to rest in the Molong cemetary, Captain French of the Salvation Army conducting
the service. Two sons, Walter (Molong) and Herbert Leslie (missing in Malaya)
and daughters Mesdames F.Everingham and J.Howarth, survive her.
Obituary 2....SISTER MRS.ELIZABETH JOHNSON, MOLONG....The Home Call came to
Sister Mrs.Johnson after a long period of suffering at home and in hospital. To
the last the late comrade testified to her faith in a Loving Saviour and very
faithfully urged all who visited her to seek Salvation. Converted at the age of
15 in a small hall at Gregra, the promoted Sister joined The Army when it
opened fire in Molong. At Cudal she was a G.B.M. agent for seven years. Later
at Hannam Vale, she became Recruiting Sergeant, and still later was a soldier
of Taree, where her husband was promoted to Glory. Mrs.Johnson returned to her
home Corps to spend her last. Large numbers attended the funeral and memorial
services, conducted by Captain P.French. Colour Sergeant W.Johnson paid tribute
and thanked God for the influence of a godly mother and father. Secretary J.
Staines (for the Corps) spoke of the sincere of the promoted comrade. A call to
action message written by the sainted warrior a few weeks before she died, was
read.
