(3) Obituary....MR. CHARLES A.DENNY....The death of Mr. Charles Arthur Denny, which took place at his residence, 96 Collins Street, Mentone, on Monday morning last at 10 o'clock, removes another well known identity of the Mentone and Mordialloc districts. Deceased who was born at Maldon 58 years ago, has been caretaker of the Mentone recreation reserve for a long time and was an ardent worker in the Salvation Army Corps of Mordialloc, being superintendent of the Sunday school for some years. The funeral which left his residence on Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock for the Methodist portion of the Cheltenham cemetary, was very largely attended. The service at the home was taken by Adjutant Landers, who also officiated at the graveside, assisted by Major Cornell and Envoy Kimpton. The pall bearers were Major Cornell, Envoy A.Kimpton and Bro.
Leigh (Salvation Army) and Messrs, E.C.Owbridge (town clerk) G.Pepper, A.Pears and G.Pritchard (reserve committee) and R.Anderson (I.O.O.F. Lodge). Among the numerous wreaths were noticeable those from Mayor and councillors, City of Mordialloc, officers and staff, City of Mordialloc, Mentone recreation reserve
committee, Officers and Brethren of the Mentone Lodge I.O.O.F and officers and comrades of the Mordialloc Salvation Army Corps. The deceased leaves a widow, two sons and a daughter, who are all members of the Salvation Army, one son being an officer in Adelaide and the Daughter in Sydney. The funeral arrangements were in the hands of W.D.Rose & Son, funeral directors, Charman Road, Cheltenham.

Charles married Lucy Jane Cole, daughter of David Cole and Catherine Russell. (Lucy Jane Cole was born on 27 Feb 1876 in Rockley, Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia,³ died on 16 Nov 1936 in Molong, New South Wales, Australia ³ and was buried in Molong, New South Wales, Australia ³.)
