He is also vice-president of the National Farmers Union of Australia and was first vice president. Mr Cole3s activities on state or Commonwealth committees dates back to 1932 when he was appointed to the Commonwealth Wool Inquiry Committee to investigtate the economies of the industry. He was the only small growers representative on the Committee. In 1939, the late Senator McLeay, then minister for Commerce invited MrCole to accept a position on the Central Wool Committee, formed to handle the Australian clip on behalf of the Australian and United Kingdom Governments.
He was again the only small growers representative in the whole of Australia for the first four years of the scheme. He held office on the committee until 1946. Mr Cole also served for five years on the Homebush Advisory Council.
Another distinction was his appointment to the Australian Wool Bureau, on which he has served for the past five years.
