In August 1899, Mrs Pears's daughter, Jessie, who married John, P. Clune, a memeber of the well-known hotel family from arncliffe, wrote to the Postmaster General's Department to inform them that her mother's health was failing and offering to take over her duties.
Mrs Clune was appointed postmistress the following month.
Jessie married John P Clune.
Jessie next married John Clune in 1891 in St Peters, Nsw Australia.
