General Notes: In 1665 the bubonic plague swept through England. It is probable that with the number of deaths the Haslen's suffered this year that the family fell victim to the plague. Another possibility was the Dutch English War. In 1665 the Duch sailed down the River Medway and burned and towed away a number of English ships. The Haslens would have been affected by this but it was mainly a sea operation so Plague is a much more likely reason for this large number of deaths. Unknown married Richard Haslen, son of Henry Haslen and Ann Barham. (Richard Haslen was christened on 5 Jun 1625 in St John the Baptist, Meopham, Kent, England 545 and was buried about 1680.) |
