WEDDING BELLS NASH'97VENABLES At the Methodist Church, Parkes on the 7th inst, a quiet wedding was celebrated between Florence Margaret second daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Venables, " Winton," and Joseph Thomas, eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. I. Nash of "The Retreat." The ceremony was performed by the Rev J E Moulton, B.A. The bride entered the church, which had bean prettily decorated by her girl friends, on the arm of her father to the strains of the "Voice that breathed o'er Eden" rendered by the choir. The "Wedding March" was played by the organist (Mr O J Howard.) The bride was attiredin a costume of soft white muslin trimmed with embroidery and true lovers knots. She wore the customary wreath and veil and carried a shower bouquet and wore a handsome rrby and pearl brooch, the gift of the bridegroom, and also a cameo brooch worn by her grandmother 60 years ago. The bridesmaids were Misses Venables and Nash, the former wear ing pink voile and pink Merry Widow hat, and the latter blue voile and hat to match. Both wore gold brooches, the gifts of the bridegroom, with their names inscribed. Mr P. A. Denning acted as best man, and Mr S Nash as groomsman. After the ceremony the guests assembled at the residence of the bride's parents, in a marquee erected in the garden, where the usual toasts were honored. Among the guests were the two grandmothers of the bridegroom, both of whom had long passed the allotted span. The happy couple left by the afternoon train for Sydney, the bride's travelling dress being a coat and skirt of wine colored serge, with cream facings, and cream silk front and Merry Widow hat. The wedding presents were costly and numerous. 1909 'Wedding Bells.', Western Champion (Parkes, NSW : 1898 - 1934), 16 April, p. 14. , viewed 16 Jun 2018, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article112350842
