ALLEGED MALICIOUS PROSECUTION.
"There was no appearance of the defendant In the action by Nicholas Mezakes of Grafton Street Woollahra, pickle merchant, against Willie Sing, of Mary Street, Sydney.-commlsslon agent, to recover £400 damages for alleged malicious prosecution and false imprisonment. His Honor gave a verdict for the plaintiff for £23. Plaintiff's case was that on April 5 last he was arrested and locked up for three hours on a charge of having stolen three hags of cucumbers, worth £2. At the police court the- magistrate dismissed
the case, and the plaintiff was discharged.

Chapman v Mizakes.
This was a case in which David Edward Chapman, of Hopetown-street, Camperdown, motor driver, claimed £400 damages for negligence from Nicholas Mezakes, of Grafton-street, Woollahra, pickle manufacturer. Plaintiff alleged that at 6.20. p.m., on August 22, last, he had Just stepped off a tram at the Australia-street stopping place, on Parramatta-road, Camperdown, when he was knocked down hy defendant's motor-car, and
seriously Injured. Defendant denied negligence, and alleged contributory negligence on the part of plaintiff. The jury returned a verdict in favour or plaintiff for £50. Mr. Cassidy (Instructed by Mr. R, M. Duncan) appeared for plaintiff; and Mr. E. W. Street (instructed by Mr. A. R. Bluett) for the defendant.

STRUCK BY CAR
Motor Driver Awarded £50 While David Edward Chapman, motor, driver, was getting off a tram in Parramatta Road he was knocked down by a passing motor-car.
In a District Court jury action yesterday he sued Nicholas Mezakes, pickle manufacturer, to recover '£400
damages for negligence.
Chapman stated that he had one foot "on the footboard of the tram at a stopping-place, preparing to alight,
" when the motor hit him.
The jury gave a verdict for £50.
Mr. Cassidy (instructed by Mr. R. Duncan) appeared for the plaintiff ; and Mr. E. "W. Street (instructed by Mr. A. R. Bluett) for the defendant, who denied negligence, and pleaded contributory negligence by the plaintiff.
