Thomas William Gransden [Parents] was born 1 on 2 Feb 1810 in Stockbury, Kent, England. He was christened 2 on 15 Apr 1810 in Stockbury Parish, Kent County, England. He died 3 on 12 Jun 1887 in Edenville, Midland, Michigan, USA. He was buried 4 in 1887 in Edenville, Midland, Michigan, USA. He married Elizabeth Ann Aikens on 11 Nov 1849 in Oshawa, Canada.

Thomas Gransden lived at Lot 8 Con 3 Whitby Township,York County 1850-1 ( Library Richmond Hill Canada)
Thomas left England in 1837 for Canada with his son William and daughter Frances E. ( who died aboard ship.)
He came to Michigan around 1871 after his son settled in the Edenville area. He was a gardener by trade in Stockbury, England and most likely the same in Canada. After coming to Edenville (then it was called Sixteen) He planted the Edenville Cemetery, and for that was given his pick of lots. He picked the top of the hill and they are resting there now.
His second wife came with him to Edenville (Elizabeth Ann (Aikens) Swanton], she had been the wife of John Swanton deceased .(see marriage record){ also her notes} After Amy's death he was introduced to Elizabeth by an organization called FRIENDS.
On February 27,1874 he took out his Declaration of Intention for US citizenship and became a citizen on June 24,1879.
Thomas had very little schooling, as did many at that time,and signed his documents with an X.
Thomas and his family left England because times were bad and Canada was booming.
To keep the family straight, Thomas had his family, Elizabeth had hers, and they had theirs. He registered to vote in 1882. (From the township voter reister book). In 1874 August 22 he was paid $5.00 for road work in the township.
Thomas died in the Axford House Hotel that was owned by his son Thomas Gransden, son of Elizabeth.
