Family Tree

Introduction

My name is Tina Bean- yes I know nothing to do with Gransden. I started researching my family tree after my son Alexander was born in 2003. I wanted to know where I had come from. My original aim was to trace all of my ancestors back to their entry into Australia. I have still not totally completed this as some of my ancestors seem to have swam to Australia. However during the whole process I went to Orange to meet up with some of my Gransden relatives (my maternal Grandmothers maiden name) and we decided to have a family reunion. I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

On my Great Aunt's advice I wrote to every Gransden in the Australian phone book. My Great Aunt was under the opinion that all Gransdens in Australia were related, she had herself written to all of them many years before. Things had changed since then. For a start, I now think she meant that she had only written to the Gransdens in NSW- this is not what I did! Plus other people had moved to Australia from other countries and they were not necessarily from the same origin as my Gransden family. So all of a sudden I had a number of people who had the same name, Gransden, writing back to me excited because they had a family that they did not know about in Australia.

This set me off on the long trail of searching for many Gransden relatives and trying to help other people search for their Gransden relatives. As a result I now have a few different Gransden branches not all of whom are related to me. I also have a large family tree of non-Gransden relatives who are related to me. So I decided that I would have to do a web site, mostly devoted to Gransden but also including other aspects of my Family tree. This is the result of the research into my family tree.

This web site is very much a work in progress so please feel free to contact me and help me and others with our research. I have a lot of photos that are of Gransdens and their descendents and an equally large number of photos of people who were in the collections of Gransden descendents but may not be Gransdens. Feel free to browse through these photos and send me any information that you may have on any of these people.

The information on this web site has been put together through the help of lots of different people. Because this has been a learning process for me not all those people are acknowledged through the sources. This is because as well as learning how to research my family tree I also had to learn how to use my program and why I needed to reference sources. I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out where some of my earlier information came from! Often I have gone back and put in the name of the people who have given me information. This is not always the case- my apologies to anyone I have missed it is not through any attempt not to recognise the information people have given me, please let me know if there is any information that you would prefer not to have on this web site or that I need to change, add etc. A huge number of people have contributed to the information on this web site but the people I would like to thank most for their contributions are Galen Gransden, Greg and Ann Kelso, Andrew Graham, Keith and Margaret Collier, Kathleen Welch and Norma Warnecke and more recently Stephen Russell
