1906- large exposition held ni New Zealand, Alice travelled to New Zealand to stay with her brother Edward and visit the Expo.
Later Alice returned to New Zealand to marry. Her family lived at Hewitts Rd Merivale, Christchurch. This family suffered during the Great Depression and had to sell their home. They moved to a smaller house at Jacksons Rd, Fendaltown, Christchurch where they remained for the next 20 years.
After the death of her husband George in 1933 Alice took in students to supplement her income.
1947 after the children were married and no longer living at home alice sold the house and moved to several other smaller places.
Alice served on the Council for the Welfare of the Aged up until a time where she was quite elderly herself.
At 89 Alice had difficulty with failing site and moved to the Fernwood Home for the Blind where she lived for the remainder of her live.
Alice married John George MacLachlan on 15 Aug 1912 in St Pauls Presbyterian Church, Christchurch, New Zealand.71 (John George MacLachlan was born in 1871 in Gippsland Victoria, Australia 71 and died on 9 Jan 1933 in Christchurch, New Zealand 71.)
