!N.S.W.BDM Index Birth #9922-1880 (2) WEDDING....A party was held at the home of Mrs.Heather Warby of Auburn last Tuesday night, to celebrate the Golden Wedding anniversary of parents, Mr. and Mrs.Fred Cole of Lidcombe. Mr. and Mrs.Cole lived in Orange for many years until World War 2, when they moved to Lidcombe. Mrs.Cole was the daughter of a well known Redbank farmer and grazier and in her younger days was regarded as an outstanding horse woman. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs.Cole opened a business at Cumnock,and then took up farming at Molong before moving to Wellington and then to Orange. During his years in Orange Mr.Cole owned the local agency for the Singer Sewing Machine Co., and during this period was awarded a canteen of cutlery for becoming the States most outstanding salesman. Their four children, Frank, Raymond, Heather and Catherine attended the party as well as their sons-in-law Athol Warby and Ted Crickette and three of their eleven grand-children. During the evening Mr.Cole proudly showed a watch case in which were some locks of auburn coloured hair. He said that they were locks of his mother's hair, and that he had carried them in his watch case for 62 years. A delicious supper, prepared by their daughters Heather and Catherine was served, and the evening concluded with the singing of "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows" and wishing the couple "long life and good health".
