Marriage Notes:
WEDDING Noble \emdash Gransden A wedding of much interest to both town and country residents took place in the Eugowra Presbyterian Church on Saturday, when Lola Alice, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Gransden, of "Smithfield," was married to Stewart McLean, second youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Noble and the late Mrs. Noble, of '"Sunnyside." The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. S. Parsons, of Forbes, who later acted as chairman at the reception. The church, which had been most artistically decorated by Miss Joy Charlton, was a bevy of pink, white and blue flowers, the color scheme chosen by the bride for the wedding. Mrs. Dart, of Hamilton, officiated at the organ, and during the signing of the register Miss G. Herbert sang "Oh Promise Me." The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked really lovely in a gown of French lace over satin. The neckline was draped into a square and the same effect was repeated in the skirt, which fell away into a flowing train. Falling to the full length of the train, the embroidered tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom and tulle. She carried a beautiful bouquet of white and blue flowers, which had been selected by the 'groom's sister, Miss Vera Noble, and flown specially from Melbourne. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Clarice Gransden, of New castle, who chose for her frock on all over lace of pale blue, featuring a long bodice and full skirt with a sweet-heart neckline. A curvette of pink and blue flowers, with a shoulder-length veil, comprised her head-dress, while the same tonings were repeated in her bouquet. The duties of best man were ably carried out by Mr. Bob Noble, brother of the 'groom, while Mr. Ian Noble and Mr. T. Gransden acted as ushers. The reception was held in the School of Arts where guests, numbering over eighty, were received by the bride's mother in a forest green suit with brown accessories and a shoulder spray of autumn tonings. Mrs. Gransden was assisted by Mrs. Allford, sister of the 'groom, who chose a frock of midnight blue, with navy accessories, to which she added a spray of red carnations. The tables were beautifully decorated by Mrs. Dignam in pink and white, the same color scheme of the three-tiered wedding cake, which had been made and decorated by Mrs. Caldwell, of Forbes. During the reception the usual toasts were honored, the speakers remarking that with this wedding two of the oldest and most respected families of the district were now united. Interspersed with the toasts was a delightful rendition of "Open Your Window to the Morn," by Miss G. Herbert. For travelling the bride chose a dove-grey suit with navy accessories. The honeymoon will be spent touring the north-east, as far as Brisbane. The young couple were the recipient of many beautiful gifts, including several cheques. 1948 'WEDDING', The Forbes Advocate (NSW : 1911 - 1954), 28 May, p. 6. , viewed 24 Jan 2018, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article218582667
