WEDDINGS
SMITH-TORBETT.
A very pretty wedding took place in Scots Church, Kiama, on Saturday, May 12th, when the Rev. G. M. Torbett :M.A., officiated. The bridegroom was. Mr. Alfred W. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs A. Smith,- of Merewether (Newcastle), the bride, Miss Mary Grace Torbett;, second.daughter of the Rev. G. M. Torbett. and Mrs. Torbett. Presbyterian Manse, Kiama. The church was prettily decorated with palms, greenery and white flowers, by friends of the bride.

The bride entered the church with her brother, Mr. Robert Torbett. She wore a charming gown of white magnolia satin, high cowled neck and sleeves, with semi-circular godets form ing the train. The handsome bridal veil was lent by Mrs. Chas. Newman. cousin of the bride. It was of honiton Lace, worn over the face, and caught with a half-wreath of orange blossom, at the back of the head. A beautiful bouquet of tuberose lilies of the valley and white rosebuds completed the ensemble.

Miss Isabel Torbett attended her sister as bridesmaid, daintily frocked in a high necked pebble crepe georgette, frills at the hem, and on the puffed sleeves. Her hat was a white summer felt with open work crown, and she carried a Victorian posy of pink carnations and autumn foliage. As flower girl, little Joyce Davidson, cousin of the bride, wore an Empire frock of white frilled georgette, with a chaplet of tiny blue and pink flowers. She carried a silver basket of rose
petals tied with a big white satin bow. Mr. Leslie Smith, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. During the signing of the register Miss Nancy Davidson, the bride's aunt, sang "When Song is Sweet;" wearing a frock of amber rhama crepe, with tiny pleatings, her hat to tone. After the ceremony the reception was held at the Manse where Mrs Torbett, wearing a, navy crystalline, trimmed with grey, her posy of pink carnations, received the guests, in intimate friends and relations.

Mrs. Smith, mother of the bridegroom, wore a frock of brown crepe de chene, with hat to tone, her bouquet of red rosebuds and autumn foliage. The honeymoon was spent in a holiday cruise to Brisbane and Northern Queensland, the bride travelling in a smart frock of cherry tree bark, with
black coat and accessories to match.
