Summary & comments on will, B Saunders Apr 2002:

Robt Stapley, gentleman of Rotherfield, made his will 3/1/1750 and it was apparently proved 1751.
Robt willed his house and land (at Carlotte Green, Rotherfield) first to his wife, and upon her death onto his grandson Wm (the son of his eldest son Robt, deceased).

Robt made his wife and 2^nd (details suggest that son Wm was not the second son, transcribers assumed that he was. Need to double check to see if baptims/ birth dates clarify) son Wm 'exseketters' and gave them all his goods & chattels conditional on them making payments to the other 4 sons (& 1 granddaughter) of between 5s and 10 pounds.

Wife Eliz got house and land (Carlotte Green, Rotherfield) for her life & thence to gson Wm plus 50% of goods.
Son Wm got 50% of goods directly and the other 50% on death of Eliz, condit on pmnts to son Ric 5s, son Ed 10pds, son Thos 21s, son Nich 5pds & gdau Abigail 21s.

Robt marked and was prob illit. His witnesses were Wm & Thos Wickens.

Robert married Elizabeth Lambert on 27 Jan 1702 in Wadhurst, East Sussex, England ³⁸⁶.^,795 (Elizabeth Lambert was born in 1681 in Sussex, England ³⁸⁶ and died in 1753 in Rotherfield, East Sussex, England.)
