He was sent to Scotland along with is sister Margaret, believed to be around 1926 or 27. There he married Miriam Margaret Stephens. The marriage ended in divorce. He later married Marjory Thompson in England and died in Newark on Trent, England. He worked with Balfour&Beattie while in Scotland and part of the time in Wales also England. It is believed by the family of John F. Smith that after Frederick and Annie left Scotland they ended up in Texas and after Frederick died Annie remarried and that was when the children were returned to Scotland. When John Frederick Smith was buried in Newerk it was under the name of John Alexander Smith. One trait of John Frederick Smith as remembered by all his children was on Saturday before going to the pub,he would first go the the candy store and on Sunday morning there would be candy for the children in his jacket pocket.
ADDED NOTE **** After searching the 1910 and 1920 Texas census there was no record of Frederick and Annie (Ross) Smith nor their children John Frederick Smith and Margaret Anne Sinclair Smith, and no record can be found as to who Annie married after Fred death.
