After her husband Arther left her, she continued to raise her three boys in Canowindra. She lived at 22 Belmore Street where she took in boarders - mainly single female teachers. She was very active in church affairs - played the organ, was a member of the choir and was involved in church activities including fund raising.
In reports of weddings in the district, she was often mentioned as making and decorating the cake.
