General Notes:
A TANTALISING TART WANTS HER OLD MAN BOUND OVER. But the Beak Dismisses tbe Case At the Newtown Police Court, on Wednesday, before Mr. Isaacs, S.M., Mary Freshwater proceeded against her husband, George Freshwater, for sureties of the peace. The case was a typical one of the enraged female invoking the Court to assist in her effort at vengeance. The parties reside at West Kogarah, tho defendant with his married daughter, and the complainant a few hundred yards distant On February 14 Mrs. Freshwater went to see her daughter, and there met her husband, who called her vile names and threatened to shoot her if she didn't get away. He also attempted to strike her, but, was prevented by members of the family. Similar rows had occurred previously, and she was in bodily fear that defendant would carry out his threats. The married daughter deposed that, on the day in question, her mother had called at the house to see her, and her father used the language and made the threats complained of. Her father was still residing with her, but she thought he was in the wrong on the day referred to.
Mr. Isaacs said that on the evidence of the complainant she had frequently gone to the house where her husband resided, although she well knew her presence annoyed him. In the face of her admissions, it was ridiculous for her to come to that court and swear she was In bodily fear of him. She had gone to his residence, not he to hers, and therefore she was responsible for any scenes. He didn't desire to hear any evidence in reply, but would dismiss the case. 1903 'A TANTALISING TART.', Truth (Sydney, NSW : 1894 - 1954), 1 March, p. 5. , viewed 14 Apr 2016, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article167896707
